French leader calls for coordinated EU strategy after Trump's victory
French government spokeswoman Sibeth Ndiaye has said that President Emmanuel Macron called on his EU partners to reach an agreement on coordinating their actions amid Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election.
"We cannot allow EU countries to adopt 'each for themselves' approach following Trump's win. What we need is a coordinated European strategy in our relations with the US," Ndiaye said, citing Macron's statement at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Voting in the US election concluded on November 6 morning. While the official results have not been announced yet, Fox News projections indicate that Donald Trump has already secured 277 electoral votes, surpassing 270 required for victory.
Trump has declared himself the 47th president of the US. Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson referred to him as the elected head of state, and congratulations have already started pouring in from foreign leaders.
