French police detain over 100 fans after PSG–Bayern match
French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has stated 127 people were detained in Paris overnight from May 6 to 7 during celebrations following Paris Saint-Germain’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League final after its match against FC Bayern Munich.
The detentions took place amid large gatherings across several parts of the French capital, including the Champs-Élysées and areas surrounding Parc des Princes stadium, Caliber.Az reports, citing French media.
Despite restrictions on large gatherings, authorities reported the use of fireworks, smoke flares, and isolated attempts to provoke unrest.
Of the total number of detentions, 107 were made directly within Paris.
Authorities also reported 11 injuries, including one person seriously wounded — reportedly due to the improper handling of pyrotechnics.
Twenty-three police officers sustained minor injuries.
According to law enforcement officials, the situation began to stabilise around 2:30 a.m., although isolated clashes continued near the Champ de Mars.
Initial reports mentioned only a handful of detentions, but the final figures were later revised sharply upward.
