SpaceX sends three communications satellites for SES into orbit

A Falcon 9 rocket operated by US company SpaceX has launched three O3b mPOWER communications satellites for European telecommunications operator SES SA into orbit.

The launch took place from Launch Complex 40 at the US Space Force’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The spacecraft, built by Boeing Co., successfully reached their designated medium Earth orbit about 50 minutes after liftoff.

With the latest mission, the O3b mPOWER constellation has grown to 13 satellites. The spacecraft are designed to expand the capacity of the existing 20-satellite O3b system and provide high-speed internet and mobile communications services worldwide.

SES provides satellite services to commercial customers and government agencies, as well as highly secure communications channels for the armed forces. The company is the world’s second-largest satellite operator after Intelsat.
