Georgia announces launch of drone production
Georgia will start mass production of unmanned aerial vehicles-drones in the coming months, Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze said on the air of Imedi TV company.
Georgia intends to produce two types of drones: one is a reconnaissance drone FLYEYE and the other is a kamikaze-type drone WARMATE, Sputnik Georgia reports.
New combat and reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) manufactured in Georgia have successfully made their first test flight at the end of January 2023.
"This month we have already tested the drones assembled here, five pieces. We have passed all test stages, and if not in the next few days, we will start mass production in August-September," Burchuladze said.
The Georgian-Polish company Delta-WB, which is implementing the project, was established on the basis of an agreement between the Georgian company Delta International and the Polish company WB Electronics.
In order to develop the military industry, Delta-VB and the Georgian Defence Ministry signed an agreement providing for the opening of the first UAV training centre in the region. The professional instructors of the centre will conduct retraining of the relevant personnel of the Defence Forces.
Georgian and Polish specialists are working together on the production of UAVs at this facility. The enterprise will be able to produce hundreds of drones per year. At this stage, the company provides maintenance services for the assembly line of WARMATE and FLYEYEYE UAVs.
The FLYEYEYE unmanned aerial system is designed to perform precision missions in all climatic zones, in severe meteorological and electronic warfare conditions. It provides covert surveillance and real-time data analysis capabilities day and night.
WARMATE is a combat-barraging unmanned aerial vehicle with proven effectiveness and high kill accuracy. The vehicle has different types of warheads. It is used by the Polish Army as well as other NATO and non-NATO countries.
