Georgia will also benefit from TRIPP, says Turkish parliament official
A senior Turkish lawmaker said the normalisation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia will bolster regional peace and stability, with Georgia also poised to gain.
Fuat Oktay, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Turkish Parliament, made the remarks at the 10th trilateral meeting of the foreign affairs committees of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Georgia, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Oktay stressed that the Turkish parliament supports the establishment of lasting peace in the region. He described the steps taken by Azerbaijan and Armenia as important confidence-building measures.
“The agreed TRIPP project is significant for the entire region. I believe that Georgia will also benefit from it,” he said.
TRIPP is a US-backed initiative aimed at establishing a transport and economic corridor linking Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Europe. The project emerged from diplomatic efforts by US President Donald Trump to encourage regional stability and cooperation, particularly following his meeting on August 8, 2025, in Washington with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
That summit, which brought Armenia and Azerbaijan together under US mediation, laid the groundwork for TRIPP by outlining plans for seamless transport connections and deeper economic integration across the region.
