Germany arrests suspects in secret equipment shipments to Russia
German authorities have arrested five individuals suspected of illegally supplying equipment to Russia in violation of the existing embargo, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office announced.
The operation took place in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Caliber.Az reports via German media.
According to the investigators, the group operated covertly over an extended period, providing goods to Russian industries, including items intended for defence-sector enterprises. A Lübeck-registered company reportedly played a central role in the scheme.
Authorities found that around 16,000 shipments to Russia were made through this company, with a total value of at least €30 million.
Among those arrested are the company’s managing director, who holds both German and Russian citizenship, two German nationals, a man with German and Ukrainian citizenship, and another suspect with dual German-Russian citizenship.
Simultaneous raids were conducted in several German regions, connected to an ongoing investigation into five additional potential suspects.
