Germany sets date for 2025 Bundestag elections
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has officially scheduled the next Bundestag elections for September 28, 2025.
"The president, upon the government's recommendation, signed an order today setting the date for the 2025 Bundestag elections. The elections for the XXI convocation of the German Bundestag will occur on September 28, 2025," Caliber.Az reports via foreign media citing the chancellery.
Under federal election law, voting is required to take place on a Sunday or a statutory holiday, ensuring maximum voter participation. The upcoming elections for the XXI convocation of the Bundestag will occur within the legally defined period, which spans from August 27 to October 26, 2025. This timeframe allows for the elections to be held no earlier than 46 months and no later than 48 months after the current legislature began.
