Google introduces “Search agents” to track news, prices, events
Google has introduced the concept of “Search agents,” a new AI system that will independently track news, prices and events, with information agents now being rolled out in AI Mode for AI Ultra subscribers.
These Search agents operate continuously in the background and are designed to “intelligently reason across information to find exactly what you need at exactly the right moment,” Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The first version, known as information agents, is intended to help users “stay updated on whatever matters most.”
Google says these agents can scan blogs, news websites, social media posts, and other online sources, as well as real-time data in finance, shopping, and sports, in order to track changes related to a user’s specific query.
The result is a “synthesized update, with the ability to take action.” One example provided by Google shows a user setting a request to list apartment requirements and receiving notifications when new listings match those criteria.
In another example, the prompt used in AI Mode is: “keep me updated when any of my favorite athletes announce sneaker collabs or signature drops.”
The key difference compared with Gemini app Scheduled actions (which run up to once per day) or Gemini Spark (which can refresh every 15 minutes) is the immediacy and responsiveness of Search agents.
Information agents are currently available to Google AI Ultra subscribers, priced at $99.99 or $199.99 per month.
Users can activate them in AI Mode by including phrases such as “keep me updated on” or “alert me when” in their prompts. The feature is available across all AI Mode languages and regions.
