Hamas confirms death of leader Yahya Sinwar in Israeli airstrike
Hamas has confirmed the death of Yahya Sinwar, head of its political bureau, following an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.
In a televised statement, Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya referred to Sinwar as a “hero who fought the Israeli forces until his last breath,” Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
Al-Hayya stated that Israeli hostages would not be released until there is a complete end to Israeli aggression in Gaza, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area.
He also reiterated Hamas' commitment to continuing its struggle until a Palestinian state is established with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Israeli army reported that Sinwar was killed during a military operation in the Gaza Strip on October 17.
