White House adviser: Three trade deals nearly final despite court ruling
A senior White House economic adviser has said three trade agreements are close to completion and that more deals are expected in the coming months, despite a court ruling that blocked most of President Donald Trump's tariffs.
Kevin Hassett, a former chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, said: "There are many, many deals coming. And there were three that basically look like they're done," Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
His comments come a day after a US trade court ruled that Trump had overstepped his authority in imposing tariffs, blocking the majority of them. Hassett dismissed the ruling as the work of "activist judges" and said he believed the administration would win its appeal.
"If there are little hiccups here or there because of decisions that activist judges make, then it shouldn't just concern you at all, and it's certainly not going to affect the negotiations," he said.
Hassett added that the White House expected a number of countries to open their markets to American exports in the next one or two months.
He also revealed that three agreements were already prepared and awaiting Trump's review at the end of the previous week.
