Baltic states plan joint task force to counter drone threats
28 August 2026 16:19
Countries bordering the Baltic Sea plan to establish a joint task force to strengthen protection against drones and enable a rapid response to the growing threat of hybrid attacks.
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt announced the plan on August 28 ahead of a meeting with his counterparts from the Baltic region in Flensburg, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The task force would facilitate the rapid exchange of information, Dobrindt said.
“Foreign states are trying every day to attack and undermine democracy, security and economic strength within the EU,” he said.
Dobrindt warned that such attacks could “take on a new dimension in the coming months”, adding that the hybrid threat was “omnipresent”.
