28 August 2026 16:20
Two people, including a 13-year-old child, were killed on Friday when a hand grenade exploded outside the Palace of Justice in the northeastern Syrian city of Hasakah, Syria’s state news agency SANA reported.
The blast occurred at around 9:30 a.m., according to a security source cited by SANA. The two victims later died from their injuries after being taken to an emergency department, Hasakah Health Director Khaled al-Khaled said. Their identities had not been established because neither was carrying identification documents.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Hasakah is located about 600 kilometres northeast of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
