International donors pledge $7 billion to rebuild Gaza, official says

International donors have pledged $7 billion toward the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, senior Board of Peace official Nickolay Mladenov, said.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, Mladenov expressed hope that the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza would soon begin carrying out its responsibilities, Interfax reports

He also said negotiations with Israel on expanding humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza were progressing successfully.

According to Mladenov, Morocco will join the international stabilization force for Gaza, while Türkiye will not participate. Advance units of the force are expected to deploy to the Gaza Strip in the near future.

Mladenov stressed that there is no alternative to the Board of Peace’s plans for stabilizing the situation in Gaza and warned that a renewed outbreak of hostilities could have devastating consequences.

He added that failure to implement the plans could jeopardize the fragile ceasefire and trigger another escalation of the conflict.
