Death toll in Gaza exceeds 54,200 as Israeli strikes continue
The number of Palestinians killed in Israeli military operations in Gaza since October 7, 2023 has risen to 54,249, according to the Health Ministry in the Hamas-run enclave.
The ministry reported that 67 people were killed and 184 others wounded in the past 24 hours alone, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
These figures exclude casualties in the northern towns of Beit Lahia, Beit Hanoun and Jabalia, where access to hospitals has been severely hampered by ongoing hostilities.
Since the collapse of a ceasefire agreement on 18 March, which had initially taken effect on 19 January, 3,986 Palestinians have reportedly been killed and 11,451 injured.
The latest update also includes 98 individuals who had previously been listed as missing and have now been confirmed dead.
In total, 123,492 people have been wounded since the conflict began in October. The health ministry notes that many more are likely still trapped beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings.
