Hungarian MFA: Decision on new package of military aid for Kyiv not made yet
The Hungarian Foreign Ministry has said that the decision on further aid to Ukraine from the European Peace Facility has not been made yet, and will be discussed during the meeting of EU Foreign Ministers in Brussels on January 23.
"The decision on further provision of aid to Ukraine within the European Peace Facility has not been made yet. This issue was included in the agenda of the European Council on Foreign Relations during the meeting on January 23, where Hungary will be represented by Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto," the Hungarian Foreign Ministry told TASS, commenting on reports that Budapest blocked the seventh package of military aid to Kyiv.
Poland’s RMF radio reported citing sources in diplomatic circles that Hungary blocked the approval of the 7th aid package, planned for provision to Ukraine for procurement of weapons - 500 million euros ($543 million) from the European Peace Facility.
According to the radio station, the EU intends to pressure Hungary to force it to agree. Should Hungary persist, other EU members want to approve the allocation of funds without Hungary’s participation.
