Hungary threatens to suspend fuel supplies to Ukraine
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán warned that Budapest could suspend transit supplies critical to Kyiv, including petrol and diesel, unless Ukraine resumes pumping oil through the Druzhba pipeline. He indicated that electricity supplies would continue even if the threat is enacted.
Speaking on Kossuth Radio, Orbán said Hungary may use financial and political measures to pressure Ukraine into restoring oil flows, expressing confidence that energy supplies via Druzhba would eventually be resumed, Caliber.Az reports.
The tension stems from the January 27 halt of Russian oil transit to Hungary and Slovakia through the Druzhba pipeline.
Kyiv attributed the disruption to a Russian drone strike, while Hungarian and Slovak authorities have blamed Ukraine for repeatedly delaying the resumption of pumping, fueling the current dispute.
