IAEA delegation's visit to Zaporizhzhya NPP postponed
The visit of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) delegation to Zaporizhzhya NPP has been postponed.
Advisor to the head of Rosenergoatom concern Renat Karchaa said that the visit was originally planned for June 14, Kommersant reports.
"The reasons for postponing [the visit] are unknown, they are not voiced. But one cannot rule out that it is another destructive action on the part of Ukraine," Karchaa said.
The IAEA is concerned that the water level in the reservoir, which cools the nuclear power plant facilities, has been dropping since the accident at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. The HPP was destroyed on June 6, which resulted in the flooding of part of the region.
On June 12, IAEA director general Rafael Grossi left for Ukraine to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Grossi planned to present a program of assistance in liquidating the consequences of the flooding.
