Iran rejects transfer of enriched uranium stockpile
Iran has ruled out transferring its stockpile of enriched uranium to a third country, rejecting one of the issues raised during discussions over a possible agreement with the United States.
Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian Parliament’s Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, said Tehran has no intention of handing over its enriched uranium reserves as part of any potential deal with Washington.
He also added that the Islamic Republic seeks permanent oversight and control of the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a long-term policy rather than a temporary measure.
His remarks come as Iranian officials continue to present the Strait of Hormuz as a key source of leverage in negotiations with the United States, while Washington insists that any agreement must ensure Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons.
