Iran vows legal action against Gen. Soleimani's assassins
Iran's acting Foreign Minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, affirmed that Iran is committed to pursuing justice through legal and judicial channels, both domestically and internationally, against those responsible for the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani.
Speaking to foreign media and reported by Caliber.Az, he stressed Iran's intent to employ national and international legal mechanisms to hold accountable the organizers and perpetrators of the attack on General Soleimani, highlighting their adherence to legal norms and procedures.
Bagheri Kani clarified Iran's position, stating unequivocally that they will exclusively utilize legal and judicial processes, dismissing any suggestion of resorting to violent measures in response to the incident.
"I have told you unequivocally that we will resort to legal and judicial procedures and mechanisms at the national and international levels to bring to justice the perpetrators and [masterminds] to assassinate General Soleimani from within the military," the Iranian diplomat said.
"We will only use Iranian and international legal and judicial procedures," Bagheri Kani said when asked if his words meant a refusal to use violent measures against Trump.
This statement comes amid reports suggesting Tehran's consideration of retaliatory actions against former US President Donald Trump, who sanctioned the strike on the Iranian military commander in 2020.
