Three military officers injured in explosion near North Korea border

Three military officers were injured on September 21 in an unidentified explosion while conducting a search operation in the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) separating South and North Korea, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said.

The blast occurred earlier in the day south of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) in the western section of the DMZ, Caliber.Az reports, citing Yonhap.

While the military did not identify the cause, the incident is suspected to have involved a land mine.

Two of the injured officers were taken to a hospital by emergency helicopter, the JCS added.
