Türkiye extradites Uzbek national wanted over alleged billions-soum theft

An Uzbek national wanted internationally has been detained in Türkiye and extradited to Uzbekistan.

The suspect is accused of misappropriating and embezzling loan funds, causing an estimated 5 billion Uzbek soums ($422,400) in damage to the state budget. He was placed on an international wanted list under Part 3 of Article 167 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code.

The detainee was handed over to Uzbek law enforcement authorities for further investigative and procedural proceedings.
