Moldova reports airspace violation by unknown object

Moldova’s Ministry of Defence reported that an unknown object breached the country’s airspace, according to a statement posted on Facebook.

The violation occurred during the night of September 21, the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the unidentified aerial target was travelling from the direction of Trybusovka in Ukraine’s Vinnytsia region toward the city of Hristovaia, located in the unrecognised Transnistrian region. It was subsequently detected travelling north toward the city of Yampil in the border area.

The object later continued toward the city of Dondușeni before disappearing near the village of Tabani in Briceni District.

As a security measure, airspace over Moldova’s northern region was restricted for 24 minutes.

“The unauthorised flight over national airspace occurred following large-scale attacks by the Russian Federation on Ukraine earlier that night,” the ministry noted.
