Iranian MP calls draft US agreement "pure loss"
A member of Iran’s parliament has sharply criticised a reported draft agreement between Washington and Tehran, describing it as similar to the 2015 nuclear deal and calling it a “pure loss.”
Mahmoud Nabavian, a parliamentarian, said the proposed framework was fundamentally flawed and warned against presenting it as a diplomatic success, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
"Talking about victory with this vague and damaging text is completely wrong," Nabavian said.
He also criticised provisions he said were included in the draft, arguing that they would significantly constrain Iran’s nuclear programme. According to Nabavian, the Islamic Republic would not retain the right to produce nuclear weapons under the proposed agreement.
He further claimed that the fate of Iran’s enriched nuclear material would depend on US approval, and that broader issues related to Iran’s nuclear programme would be subject to continued negotiations.
"This agreement, like the JCPOA, is a pure loss and stems from a change in the calculations of officials," he said.
