Israel closes Gaza crossings after Iranian missile strikes, halts aid entry
Israel has temporarily closed border crossings into the Gaza Strip following an overnight Iranian missile attack against Israeli territory between June 7 and June 8.
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announced that the Kerem Shalom and Rafah crossings were shut until further notice, halting the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, Caliber.Az reports per Israeli media.
COGAT said the decision was taken as part of broader security measures and stated that the move is not expected to significantly affect the humanitarian situation in the enclave. It cited United Nations data indicating that the volume of food delivered to Gaza since the start of the ceasefire exceeds the population’s nutritional requirements.

The agency added that it continues to coordinate with international organizations and monitor developments in consultation with Israeli security authorities. It said updates on the reopening of crossings would depend on evolving security assessments.
In a later statement, COGAT rejected claims that aid was being arbitrarily blocked, saying the closures were a temporary security measure following missile attacks on Israel. It said operating the crossings during active hostilities posed risks to personnel on both sides.
