Israel says it eliminated Hamas military intelligence commander in Gaza strike VIDEO
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israeli Security Agency said they struck and killed Muhammad Abu Shaleh, the Military Intelligence Commander of Hamas’ Khan Yunis Brigade, in Gaza on March 18.
"Yesterday [Wednesday], the IDF and ISA struck and eliminated Muhammad Abu Shaleh, the Military Intelligence Commander of Hamas’ Khan Yunis Brigade," the IDF said in a statement, Caliber.Az reports.
“Throughout the war, Shaleh served as the intelligence officer for senior brigade officials and took part in planning the October 7th massacre in the Khan Yunis Brigade,” the IDF and ISA said in a joint statement.
The statement added that Shaleh had recently been operating in violation of the ceasefire agreement, seeking to rebuild the organisation’s capabilities in the Gaza Strip and planning attacks against IDF troops and Israel.
“The terrorist was targeted in a precise strike in order to remove an immediate threat to IDF troops,” the statement said.
The IDF and ISA emphasised that precautions were taken to limit civilian harm, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
“Prior to the strikes, measures were taken to mitigate the risk of harm to civilians, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance. IDF and ISA forces remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat,” the agencies said.
