Israeli army says it struck Hezbollah militant in southern Lebanon
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said it carried out a strike against a Hezbollah militant in the Al-Khiam area of southern Lebanon.
“Some time ago, in response to Hezbollah's continued violations of the ceasefire agreements, the Israel Defence Forces struck a terrorist from this group in the Al-Khiam area in southern Lebanon,” the IDF said in a statement, per Caliber.Az.
The announcement follows earlier IDF operations in the region. On January 2, the Israeli military reported conducting airstrikes on several targets in southern Lebanon, aimed at the Hezbollah military.
The strikes included a training facility used by Hezbollah’s Radwan Force, which the military said had been employed for weapons drills and combat exercises. The IDF also reported striking buildings that had recently been used to store weapons.
The Israeli military said the activity at the targeted sites violated the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon and posed a security threat to Israel. It added that operations would continue to counter what it described as threats along Israel’s northern border.
