Israeli drone strike in eastern Lebanon kills four militants of Islamic Jihad
Israel said it carried out an airstrike in eastern Lebanon on February 15, targeting operatives from the Palestinian militant group "Islamic Jihad" and killing four people near the Syrian border.
In a statement, the Israeli military said the strike targeted members of Islamic Jihad operating in the border area. The group is an ally of the Lebanese armed movement Hezbollah, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Lebanon’s state-run media reported that an Israeli drone struck a vehicle in the Majdal Anjar area along the Lebanese-Syrian border. According to the agency, four bodies were found inside the car after it was hit.
The vehicle caught fire when it was struck by a missile, killing those inside, the report said.
Lebanon’s health ministry confirmed in a statement that four people were killed in the incident.
The strike appeared to be the first publicly acknowledged Israeli attack in Lebanon targeting Islamic Jihad since a truce reached in November 2024.
