Israeli military intensifies operations in Gaza
The Israeli military and fighters of the Palestinian Hamas radical movement are clashing in Shujayea neighbourhood of Gaza City.
“Israeli forces continue attacking residential areas, searching for the remaining Hamas battalions that are trying to restore their military capabilities,” Caliber.Az reports citing the foreign media.
The region experienced heavy bombing that resulted in the deaths of many Palestinians. In retaliation, Palestinian armed fighters ambushed Israeli troops and launched anti-tank missile attacks.
The Israeli military said that its troops are intensifying operations in the Shujayea neighbourhood east of Gaza City and “fighting simultaneously above and below ground” on June 29.
It claimed troops had eliminated “a large number of terrorists” over the past day and located a weapons storage facility within a school compound.
The air force also struck “terror targets and armed terrorist cells, including a terrorist cell that was on its way to fire at troops”.
The Israeli military earlier issued a statement requiring residents in Shujayea and adjacent areas to move southwards along the arterial Salah al-Din Street, which crosses the length of the enclave.
