Israeli military says it killed two Hamas members in northern Gaza strikes
The Israeli military said it killed two members of Hamas in separate strikes in northern Gaza over the weekend, describing them as individuals involved in weapons production and attacks against Israeli forces.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said one of those killed was Ahmad Munir Khalil Zaza, whom it identified as an engineering officer in Hamas’s West Jabalia Battalion in Gaza City. The military said he was involved in the production and distribution of weapons, including the construction of explosive devices and booby-trapped structures, Caliber.Az reports.
The IDF said Zaza had recently attempted to place explosive devices near what it described as the “Yellow Line” area in order to target Israeli troops operating in the region.
In a separate strike in northern Gaza, the military said it killed Hussein Safadi, identified as the commander of Hamas’s sniper unit in Gaza City. According to the IDF, Safadi had directed sniper operations against Israeli forces during the conflict and had recently attempted to resume training and planning for further attacks, including in violation of ceasefire arrangements.
The military said precautions were taken prior to the strikes to reduce the risk of civilian casualties, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance.
