Israeli warplanes attack Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon
Israeli fighter jets attacked the city of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon, a stronghold of Hezbollah armed units.
The planes fired missiles at a building in the Hai al-Baraqa neighbourhood. The building was totally destroyed and damage was done to adjacent houses and cars, TASS reports citing Al Wataniya agency.
Rescuers are working on the site. One man has been retrieved from under the debris alive.
Bint Jbeil is located four kilometres from the Lebanese-Israeli border and has a population of some 30,000. The city was attacked by Israeli warplanes on December 26, when two Hezbollah fighters and one civil defence officer were killed.
Hezbollah said earlier that its Shiite units had fired guided missiles at Israeli positions in the Beiit Gilel and Kharaj Adasir border areas. Moreover, they shelled an army barrack in Ramim. Shiite units also used a drone to attack Israeli soldiers near the Rampt checkpoint.
