Japan intends to renew fishing agreement with Russia in Kuril Islands area

Japan intends to seek an agreement with Russia on fishing in the area of the southern part of the Kuril Islands.

"We will continue to work with the Russian side in order to carry out fishing," Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa at a press conference in Tokyo, TASS reports.

Kamikawa put the blame for the situation on Russia.

According to her, the Japanese side is coordinating at different levels but has not yet received "any positive response" from the Russian Federation on the implementation of fishing.
