Kazakh, Georgian leaders meet to deepen bilateral cooperation at Ashgabat forum
Kazakh President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev has held talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on the sidelines of an international forum in Ashgabat, the Kazakh president’s press service informed.
Tokayev described Georgia as a reliable partner for Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus, stressing the value of long-standing cooperation built on close historical and cultural ties between the two nations.
Both sides reaffirmed the steady development of political dialogue and the expansion of economic and humanitarian cooperation. The meeting covered a wide range of issues relating to bilateral relations.
Tokayev highlighted significant potential to deepen engagement, particularly in transport, logistics and trade.
Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat, is hosting a high‑profile international forum focused on peace, trust and cooperation, marking the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.
The event brought together heads of state and government, including leaders from Russia, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, alongside senior officials and representatives of international organisations.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedow opened the forum, underscoring the role of neutrality as a foundation for sustainable development and global stability.
