Kazakhstan road accident kills eight in devastating head-on crash VIDEO
As many as eight people have been killed and four others injured after two cars collided head-on in Kazakhstan’s West Kazakhstan Region, according to local media.
The crash occurred on November 17 at the 50km mark of the Chapay–Zhanakala–Saikyn regional road, Caliber.Az reports per Kazakh media.
A Toyota Camry and a Volkswagen Sharan collided head-on, leaving one of the vehicles engulfed in flames.
Police said eight people died at the scene. Four others were taken to the hospital with injuries. A criminal investigation has been opened.
Officers said weather conditions and the state of the road surface were “satisfactory” at the time of the crash, with “good visibility and no external factors hindering traffic”.
Police, investigators and emergency services are working at the scene, and all circumstances surrounding the collision will be examined as part of the inquiry, the regional police department said. Footage from the scene has been shared by eyewitnesses.
