Kazakhstan, Türkiye agree to increase weekly flights to 224
Kazakhstan and Türkiye have agreed to increase the number of authorised flights between the two countries from 120 to 224 per week, Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee said on August 17.
Under the agreement, flights on major routes between Istanbul and Astana, Almaty and Shymkent, as well as between Ankara and Astana and Almaty, will increase from 76 to 138 per week, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
Flights on tourist routes between Antalya and Bodrum and cities in Kazakhstan will rise from 44 to 86 per week, the committee said.
The agreements were reached during talks held in Istanbul on August 13-14.
Airlines from both countries will also be able to operate up to 14 flights per week on all other routes, the committee said, adding that this would support the expansion of direct air links and regional connectivity.
The sides also agreed to allow up to 76 cargo flights for both countries, using fifth-freedom traffic rights to serve third countries.
The talks also covered cooperation in areas including air transport regulation, flight and aviation security, the investigation of aviation accidents, airport infrastructure and digitalisation.
Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee described the agreements as an important step in developing the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Türkiye.
