Kazakhstan-US partnership deepens with critical minerals agreement
Kazakhstan and the United States have taken a significant step in bolstering their strategic and economic ties with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of critical minerals.
The signing occurred during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s official visit to Washington, which commenced with high-level meetings with senior US officials, including Secretary of State Maco Rubio, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
During the discussions, both sides addressed crucial aspects of bilateral and regional cooperation. President Tokayev highlighted the expanding opportunities for Kazakhstan and the United States to strengthen their strategic partnership, emphasizing initiatives that promote economic growth, create new jobs, and support industrial and business development.
“Kazakhstan is ready to further deepen multifaceted cooperation and continue active political dialogue,” Tokayev stated.
The MoU, signed in the presence of President Tokayev, formalizes cooperation in the sector of critical minerals, an area of growing global strategic importance. The agreement was signed by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Industry and Construction, Yersayin Nagaspayev, and US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, marking a new chapter in the two countries’ collaborative efforts in high-value industrial and technological sectors.
