Kyiv court keeps oligarch Kolomoisky behind bars until February
A Ukrainian court has extended the pre-trial detention of oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky, keeping him in custody until February 6.
Kolomoisky was initially arrested and placed in custody in September 2023, Strana.ua reported on its Telegram channel.
He faces multiple charges, including fraud, legalization of illegally obtained assets, illegal seizure of PrivatBank’s holdings, and orchestrating an attempted attack on a lawyer who is the son-in-law of former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma. On September 14, it was reported that Kolomoisky had been stripped of his Cypriot citizenship.
In March of the previous year, a Russian court ordered the seizure of Kolomoisky’s assets in favor of the state, following an administrative lawsuit filed by the Russian deputy prosecutor general. The case was linked to allegations of participation in extremist activities and financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Following the resignation of Andrii Yermak, Kolomoisky reportedly attempted to negotiate his release from pre-trial detention, but the court chose to maintain his custody.
