Large-scale operation underway in Syria's Latakia PHOTO/VIDEO

After the tension that arose in the town of Al Qardahah in the Latakia countryside last week due to an attack on a checkpoint, another similar incident has unfolded. 

On March 3 evening, armed individuals detonated an explosion near a security patrol close to the Al-Azhari roundabout in the city of Latakia, followed by gunfire, sources told Al Arabiya, per Caliber.Az.

A security source in Latakia reported that "remnants of the former regime's groups killed two Syrian Ministry of Defense personnel in the Al-Datour area by setting up an ambush." 

Meanwhile, the internal security forces in the region were mobilized with the arrival of military reinforcements, with the aim of pursuing those involved in the attack and restoring security and stability to the site of the attack.

Security forces launched a large-scale operation to secure the Al-Datour area and several nearby areas to arrest those responsible for the incident and bring them to justice.
