Man convicted over foiled knife attack at Israeli embassy in London VIDEO
A 34-year-old man has been convicted of planning a terrorist attack at the Embassy of Israel following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing London.
Abdullah Sabah Albadri attempted to enter the embassy in Kensington on April 28 last year armed with two knives. The attack was thwarted by armed officers from the Metropolitan Police Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, who intervened before he could breach the gates, Caliber.Az reports per Metropolitan police.
Investigators said Albadri was motivated by a desire for revenge against the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza. Body-worn camera footage captured him telling officers he had “weapons” and wanted to “make a crime” inside the embassy.
Police recovered two knives from his pockets and a martyrdom note indicating he intended to die “for the glory of God.” Analysis of his phone showed he had researched the embassy’s location and searched for terms related to suicide and martyrdom in the days leading up to the incident.
CCTV footage showed him walking from Kilburn to Kensington on the day of the attack, wearing a scarf covering his face and sunglasses.
Following a two-week trial at the Old Bailey, Albadri was convicted of preparing terrorist acts and possession of bladed articles. He is due to be sentenced at a later date.
