Mass drone, missile assault leaves most of Ukraine’s Odesa without power Video
A large-scale overnight attack involving approximately 105 Geran-type drones has left most of the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa without electricity. Strikes reportedly hit critical energy infrastructure, including the last operational electrical substation in the city, Tairovo.
As a result of the attack, around 90 per cent of Odesa was left without power, with widespread disruptions to water supply, heating systems, and communications. Emergency services have been working to assess the damage and restore essential services, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Military activity was also reported in the air. Tu-95 strategic bombers, typically capable of carrying Kh-55 and Kh-101 cruise missiles, were said to have been deployed during the assault. There were additional reports of long-range drone strikes and the possible use of Iskander missile systems.
Witness accounts indicated that air raid sirens in Odesa sounded only after some of the drones had already struck their targets. The assault reportedly lasted for approximately seven hours.
Beyond Odesa, energy infrastructure was also targeted in Kryvyi Rih, parts of Dnipropetrovsk region, and the Sumy region, suggesting a coordinated effort aimed at Ukraine’s power grid.
