MEDIA: Attacks on Hezbollah pagers fueled a "new era" of war
Hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah have dramatically intensified, with Israel's Defence Minister Yoav Gallant describing the situation as the beginning of a "new era" of warfare following a series of attacks on the Iran-backed militant group's communications network.
On September 17, pagers belonging to Hezbollah members detonated nearly simultaneously, revealing a significant security breach and underscoring the extent of Israeli intelligence capabilities, Caliber.Az reports via CNN.
The following day, hundreds of Hezbollah walkie-talkies exploded within a single minute.
Since the onset of these attacks, at least 80 individuals have lost their lives, the majority of whom were Hezbollah operatives, although women and children have also been among the casualties.
This unprecedented assault has left one of the world's largest non-state fighting forces reeling, marking the most substantial blow to its military structure and the clearest Israeli infiltration of its ranks and communications systems in over 40 years.
According to Lebanese security sources, the internal breach facilitated these successive attacks last week, leading to widespread panic within Hezbollah.
In response, the group has pledged to retaliate in “a battle without limits.”
