Media: Europe mulls venue for first Putin-Zelenskyy meeting since Ukraine invasion
European allies are reportedly assessing potential locations for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and US President Donald Trump.
The discussions come after Trump indicated there was a “very good chance” of trilateral talks if his upcoming summit in Alaska goes smoothly, Caliber.Az reports via Sky News.
The planned three-way summit would mark the first direct encounter between Putin and Zelenskyy since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Officials stress that the meeting remains contingent on the outcome of Friday’s US-Russia talks in Alaska, but European allies have reportedly agreed that the continent would be the preferred host.
“If tomorrow’s meeting proves successful, the EU and US are expected to hold discussions regarding a subsequent meeting of all three leaders on the afternoon of August 16,” the report added.
