Media: Canadian ex-PM leaves parliament with office chair, sticking out his tongue
Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been recently captured in an amusing photo, leaving the Parliament building while carrying his office chair and playfully sticking his tongue out at the photographer.
The image shows the ex-leader departing the House of Commons, the lower chamber of Canada’s Parliament, while holding his chair and looking straight into the camera, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
The unusual and candid moment quickly garnered attention on social media. Trudeau, who lost control of the government following a cabinet reshuffle in 2024, was forced to step down from his position as leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and as prime minister.
Despite his resignation, he continued to serve as acting prime minister until a new party leader was selected. The image captures a lighter moment during a politically turbulent time for Trudeau, whose leadership came to an abrupt end amid political shifts within the party.
Mark Carney has emerged victorious in the race to succeed Justin Trudeau as Canada's prime minister, pledging to win the trade war against the US and President Donald Trump.
The former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England triumphed over three other contenders in the Liberal Party's leadership race with a commanding victory.
During much of his victory speech, Carney, 59, criticised Trump, who has imposed tariffs on Canada and expressed interest in making the country the 51st US state. "Americans should make no mistake," he stated. "In trade, as in hockey, Canada will win."
Carney is expected to take the oath of office in the coming days and will lead the Liberals into the next general election, which could be called in the near future.
