Media: US ex-president urges Israel to target Iran's nuclear facilities
US ex-President Donald Trump has asserted that Israel should focus on targeting Iran's nuclear facilities during a campaign event in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on October 4.
His remarks came in reaction to President Joe Biden's previous warnings to Israel against attacking these sites. Trump questioned, "I think [Biden] got that wrong, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Isn't that what you're supposed to hit?" he added, "The answer should have been to hit the nuclear first and worry about the rest later." Earlier, when asked about supporting an Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, Biden had responded with a firm "No."
He mentioned that his administration was in communication with Israeli officials regarding their response and planned to speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu soon.
On October 2, President Biden participated in discussions with G7 nations—comprising the US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom—regarding the Israeli-Iranian crisis, amid escalating attacks that could lead to a wider regional conflict.
The US has warned Iran of potential consequences for its actions but remains focused on diplomatic efforts. Meanwhile, Israel has intensified its military measures to safeguard its security situation.
