Azerbaijan, North Macedonia discuss expanding cooperation across key sectors PHOTO
On March 12, Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova and a high-level delegation led by President of the Republic of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in various fields.
Gafarova emphasized the significant role of high-level visits and meetings in enhancing political relations between the two countries, expressing confidence that this visit would provide a strong impetus for further expanding ties between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
During the meeting, both sides agreed on the promising prospects for strengthening cooperation in various fields, including the economy, trade, investment, energy, transport, and agriculture. President Siljanovska-Davkova expressed satisfaction with her stay in Baku, calling Azerbaijan a friendly and close country. She also emphasized that North Macedonia values its relationship with Azerbaijan highly and is committed to its further development.
The Macedonian President shared her impressions of the meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, discussing the prospects of transitioning to green energy, Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts in this area, and the significant contributions of the COP29 conference and the 12th Global Baku Forum in driving this process forward. Speaker Gafarova highlighted the importance of parliamentary cooperation as one of the key factors influencing both bilateral and multilateral relations.
She underscored the necessity of further expanding legislative cooperation, particularly through international parliamentary organizations. Gafarova also informed President Siljanovska-Davkova about the ongoing peace process with Armenia, following Azerbaijan’s liberation of its territories, as well as Azerbaijan’s vital role in ensuring the energy security of European countries.
The two sides discussed the importance of collaboration in education and culture, recognizing the significant role of humanitarian cooperation in strengthening the ties between their peoples. President Siljanovska-Davkova also praised Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage, acknowledging its importance in fostering deeper ties between the two nations. The meeting concluded with discussions on other topics of mutual interest.
