Uzbek president to visit France for key trade, economic talks with Macron

10 March 2025 22:36

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will embark on a state visit to Paris from March 11-13, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron and discuss the expansion of trade and economic cooperation.

The visit will include high-level talks and various events, including meetings with French government officials and business leaders, Caliber.Az reports via the Uzbek presidential press service.

The primary focus will be on advancing and strengthening the comprehensive relationship between Uzbekistan and France.

Key areas of discussion will also include fostering investment and promoting collaborative projects with major French companies and enterprises. At the end of the summit, a series of intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements are expected to be signed. Additionally, President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to meet with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay to discuss the preparation for the 43rd session of the General Conference, which will be held in Samarkand this autumn.

Uzbekistan and France have enjoyed a growing relationship built on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared interests in various sectors. In recent years, Uzbekistan has sought to strengthen its international standing, and France has been an important partner in this process. The two countries have collaborated on several high-profile initiatives, including infrastructure development, investment in energy, and the promotion of French language and culture in Uzbekistan. French companies have shown significant interest in Uzbekistan’s growing economy, particularly in sectors like energy, telecommunications, and agribusiness.
