Secretary Rubio: Russian sanctions remain "intact"
The United States has not lifted any of the sanctions previously imposed on Russia, as Moscow has yet to take any action.
This was confirmed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on March 12, who was talking to reporters from Ireland, Caliber.Az reports citing US media.
"The United States is not offering any assistance to Russia. Every sanction that has been placed on Russia remains intact. They’re already heavily sanctioned. My point is that no steps have been taken to ease any of these measures," Rubio stated.
When asked about US plans if Russia rejects the proposed 30-day ceasefire, Rubio responded that Russian sanctions remain in effect, stating that he doesn't "think it’s productive to stand here and issue threats about what we’ll do if Russia refuses. Let’s hope they agree."
As Caliber.Az realls, the United States agreed to resume military aid and intelligence sharing with Kyiv on March 11 after Ukraine expressed willingness to support Washington’s proposal for a temporary ceasefire.
Following over eight hours of negotiations with Ukrainian officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Rubio announced that the US would present the proposal to Russia as soon as March 12, placing the decision in Moscow’s hands.
