Middle Corridor, energy matters form center of Azerbaijan–Netherlands talks
Several high-ranking Dutch officials have held a series of meetings with Azerbaijani government structures for the strengthening of bilateral ties during their visit to the country.
The Dutch delegation is headed by the Kingdom's Special Representative for the Eastern Partnership, Rein Dekkers, and Dutch Foreign Ministry’s Special Representative for Connectivity, Bernhard Kelkes, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
The envoys met with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, as well as Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov, and several representatives of the Ministry of Energy to discuss opportunities for further strengthening bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands.
According to the Dutch embassy in Baku, the talks focused on cooperation in clean energy, transport connectivity, agriculture, water management, maritime affairs, innovation, and the digitalization of the Middle Corridor (formally known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route [TITR]).
As part of their visit, the Dutch representatives also met with leading think tanks and representatives of Azerbaijani and Dutch companies operating along the Middle Corridor.
The discussions additionally covered geopolitical developments in the region, the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the impact of the Middle East crisis on regional transport connectivity.
