Ministry: Azerbaijan sends specialists to Russian peacekeepers’ zone in Karabakh Following hard-hitting article of Caliber.Az
Proceeding from the request of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Defence requested the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces to send specialists from the corresponding organisations to their temporary responsibility zone to investigate and monitor the illegal exploitation of minerals and related environmental consequences.
“The representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Service on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy, and AzerGold company approached the checkpoint of the Russian peacekeeping forces between Khankendi and Shusha city to enter this territory on December 3, 2022, at about 11:00 (GMT+4),” Caliber.Az reports citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
“Currently, the activity of a group of experts is being discussed with the command of the peacekeeping forces to investigate and monitor the illegal exploitation of minerals in the Azerbaijani territories, in which Russian peacekeeping forces are temporarily deployed, and the environmental consequences. The public will be additionally informed about the results of the negotiations,” the ministry said in a statement.
Caliber.Az has recently published an article entitled "Gold business of Armenian self-proclaimed 'minister of state', Russian general in Karabakh", which told about the predatory looting of the Azerbaijani natural resources in the Karabakh region by the separatists and the leadership of the Russian peacekeepers. This article caused a wide public response in Azerbaijan.
In fact, the Azerbaijani side is now trying to stop environmental terror in the temporary responsibility zone of the Russian peacekeepers.
