Moldova offers support to Transnistria, linking aid to reintegration talks
Chisinau has signaled that it could provide assistance to Transnistria, a breakaway state of Moldova, as the region faces an ongoing energy crisis, but emphasised that such support would depend on Tiraspol accepting Moldova’s reintegration proposal.
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Cîver said after a government meeting that supporting citizens on the left bank of the Dniester and ensuring the operation of industrial enterprises would be relatively straightforward, provided that the breakaway region engages in the reintegration process, Caliber.Az reports.
He explained that Moldova’s proposal involves the gradual extension of the country’s constitutional framework to cover the entire territory, a plan he said is backed by the majority of residents in Transnistria.
Cîver argued that this approach would meet the population’s desire for stability, security, and sustainable socio-economic development.
