Moldova to end restrictions on Ukrainian grain, oilseed imports
Moldova has announced plans to lift restrictions on the import of grains and oilseeds from Ukraine after December 31, following the expiration of the country’s special licensing regime, Agriculture Minister Ludmila Catlabuga told reporters.
“The current Order No. 170 on the licensing regime no longer allows us to extend this measure. Accordingly, we are returning to the standard import procedure,” Minister Catlabuga said, addressing local farmers’ calls to prolong the restrictions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
She emphasized that authorities will continue to closely monitor the market and are prepared to intervene promptly if necessary.
The announcement comes after the Farmers’ Force association urged the government to maintain import restrictions, citing practices in several European Union countries. In December, the association organized protests demanding increased government support for the agricultural sector. According to the farmers, many agricultural enterprises faced the risk of bankruptcy due to the severe drought in 2025.
